The Islamic Counselling Model is a pastoral or spiritual model of counselling based on the Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammed and the teaching of the science of the self as developed in the teachings of Tasawwuf.

Concept of Islamic Counselling

The most central concept in Islamic Counselling is that of Tauhid or Unity. In practice this means that Islamic Counselling encompasses the spiritual, the psychological, the emotional, the social and the physical; aiming to bring out this wholeness, tapping into the deeper spiritual truths of the individual.

Derived from the Islamic science of the self (nafsiyat), Islamic Counselling is a contemporary distillation of Islamic teachings, specific to the therapeutic needs of the individual aimed at enabling balance and mental health.

The process of counselling is about enabling people to live resourcefully and effectively. All models of counselling do this in relation to the social, emotional and psychological aspects of our lives.
